These 3-string cigar box guitar are the easiest guitar for anyone to pick up and join in the music!
The key is in the strings' tuning to D, G, & B.
Summary: This tuning makes all chords easy, from major to minor to seventh to augmented. All Hot Noise Chord Boxes come with a complete guide to playing all of the 9 basic types of chords.
Music theory behind this tuning:
These strings are tuned the same as the no. 2, 3, and 4 strings of a traditional guitar. The G string is a major 4th above the D string, and the B string is a major 3rd above the G.
A guitar is tuned with most strings a major 4th above the next string, with the one exception of the G to B major 3rd. This is to make the chords easier to play thank they would be on a an instrument tuned like those modern guitar predecessors from europe.
[Quick side note: the guitar itself is most directly attributed to coming from Africa, and then going through evolution when bright to Europe]
The European string instruments like violin, violas, and cellos are all tuned in perfect 5th intervals. These provide more range meaning one can play a wider variety of melodies faster and smoother. Most 4 string banjos are also tuned in 5ths for the major 5ths for the same reason. The mandolin and the mandola.
